Newborn support  - sleeping baby

Newborn Support

New parenthood is a time of conflicting emotions. Excitement about their new arrival turns to joy then reality sets in: Sleepless nights, an endless blur of feeding and changing, the complete disruption of your regular routine.

You start to doubt yourself; you start to feel anxious or worried that you are doing the right thing!

 The good news is this is completely normal. Many mums (parents) feel like this and, with support, you can start to enjoy your new arrival and life as a new family.

 I’m not just an extra pair of hands for a few days or weeks. I’m here to ease you into your new parenting role, helping you feel more positive, secure and confident.

 With my support you’ll learn to understand baby’s cues and establish gentle routines that work for the whole family, which means you are much more likely to enjoy your baby and feel you are coping.

My support can start immediately after baby is born, or once your partner has gone back to work.

Happy but overwhelmed new mum - Newborn support

Postnatal Support 1:1 support can Help in the Following Ways:

  • Support with feeding your baby/babies breastfeed or bottle (expert signposting if necessary);
  • Supporting your physical and emotional recovery;
  • Practical support to help you care for your newborn/s;
  • Providing practical support on establishing routines on sleep, feeding, bathing and general baby care;
  • Being there to reassure parents and answering any of those normal parenting questions;
  • Give mum an opportunity to look after herself following the birth, so she can have a chance to sleep, bathe or relax;
  • Let mum have the opportunity to discuss her birth, new role as a parent and how she’s feeling;
  • If you have twins or triplets, can also advise how to tandem feed, synchronise their feeds, and gain some much needed sleep;
  • Helping you get out of the house with baby/babies whether that be for a doctor’s appointment or just going to the shops (this can be especially daunting with more than one).

How it works:

My troubleshooting package is great for those out of the blue issues, for parents who want some general guidance and support on sleep, settling techniques, reading baby’s sleep cues, awake to sleep windows, reflux and feeding routines. Following a phone call or a home visit (if you live within the catchment area) you will receive an email highlighting all techniques and routine changes we have discussed. Karen will discuss with you your baby/babies current sleep habits and feeding pattern, she will share with you practical gentle changes and techniques you can implement to your little ones routine. This package also includes 2 weeks of email support.

I am based in Watford, Hertfordshire and am happy to work in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Middlesex and North London. Under most circumstances the cost of travelling is included in the cost of Karen’s services, for clients living outside a 10 mile radius of WD24 there maybe an extra charge for travelling expenses.
